Scott Joplin’s most famous rag, The Entertainer reached high acclaim in 1973 as the recognizable theme from the Academy Award-Winning film “The Sting.” This movie classic featuring Paul Newman and Robert Redford was responsible for the resurgence of ragtime piano but more specifically renewed interest in the works of Scott Joplin. “The Entertainer” was heard on every TOP 40 radio broadcast in the mid 70’s and must be included in any historic “Billboard” countdown. We have brought it back to life in this arrangement for Bb, Eb, and C instruments with a seamless interaction between the pianist and the winds as the popular melody is flipped on each repeated passage. This fun filled arrangement by Tony Santorella and Steve Kenyon is sure to draw a crowd.
